Grand Theft Auto V Ships 70 Million Units

Take-Two Interactive revealed during its quarterly earnings call with investors that Grand Theft Auto V has shipped seventy million units since its release in 2013. In a press release, the publisher wrote that the game was one of the largest contributors to its net revenue in second quarter of fiscal 2017 alongside GTA Online, BioShock: The Collection and XCOM 2. Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two, said:

Our outstanding results were highlighted by the series’ record-breaking launch of NBA 2K17, ongoing robust demand for Grand Theft Auto V, and increased recurrent consumer spending, including year-over-year bookings growth from Grand Theft Auto Online.

Going forward, the company plans to continue supporting GTA Online with “additional free content” and more in hopes to “promote ongoing engagement and drive recurrent consumer spending.”

Elsewhere in the press release, Take-Two revealed that Carnival Games VRWWE 2K17 and Sid Meier’s Civilization VI were also off to a successful start alongside Mafia III.
