PS4 Sales Cross 50 Million, This Past Black Friday Week Was PlayStation’s Best Ever

After seeing the best ever Black Friday week in the history of PlayStation, Sony has announced that worldwide PlayStation 4 sales to consumers have crossed 50 million, as of December 6. This includes sales of PS4 Pro, which launched last month, but Sony didn’t say how many units the new console sold on its own.

PS4 software is also doing well, with Sony estimating that more than 369.6 million copies have been sold through retail stores and the PlayStation Store worldwide as of December 4.

Sony Interactive Entertainment President Andrew House said:

We’re truly delighted that the PS4 community continues to flourish since launch three years ago. With tremendous support from our fans and partners across the globe, this year we were able to deliver an unprecedented lineup of hardware such as the new slimmer PS4, PS4 Pro and PlayStation VR. We will continue to provide the best gaming experiences available through our ground-breaking software lineup and network services, as we focus on accelerating our business and expanding the PS4 ecosystem.

Sony’s last PS4 sales update came in May, where the system was at 40 million units sold and 271 million pieces of software sold. Sony expects PS4 sales to reach 60 million by the end of March 2017.
