Hitman’s January Update Adds A New Difficulty

Io-Interactive’s reboot of their beloved Hitman franchise will be receiving its physical release later this month, but all owners will get to enjoy the benefits of an update launching alongside it. Starting on January 31, HDR support will be added to the game. That means the various in-game levels will look even better than before with a wider depth of color available.

On top of that, a new difficulty is also being added to the stealth title. Called Professional difficulty, it’ll offer a tougher challenge for wannabe assassins. There’s a separate mastery track with brand new rewards, and enhanced AI that will be more difficult to fool.

Here’s how the new difficulty will impact the gameplay according to developer Io-Interactive:

The new difficulty level introduces strict item rules so players will be noticed carrying suspicious items, disguises that can be ruined depending how you take out the NPC wearing them, new security camera rules, limited save games and a whole lot more. Everything needed to challenge even the top players. To unlock Professional Difficulty Level players will need to reach Mastery Level 20 for each location and there are separate leaderboards between difficulty levels. Professional Difficulty Level will be available for all main Story missions only, excluding Prologue.

PlayStation LifeStyle praised Hitman upon the release of the game’s first episode, with our own Paulmichael Contreras calling it “the weapon of choice of stealth gamers for the foreseeable future.” The physical version releases January 31, while the digital version is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
