When PlayStation 4 update 4.50 launched earlier this month, users went on the PlayStation Forums to say that their console could no longer connect to Wi-Fi, with error code NW-31297-2 popping up – “Could not connect to the Wi-Fi network because the Wi-Fi password is not correctly set on the PS4, or the wireless network is busy,” Sony says of the error code on their Help site.
In the two weeks since the forum thread went live, it’s reached 26 pages, with many people complaining of the same Wi-Fi issue. So far, the solutions that have worked for players include buying an Ethernet cable long enough to directly connect your PS4 to the internet, removing password protection for your internet, and spending money on a Wi-Fi extender with an ethernet port.
When Polygon reached out to Sony about the PS4 Wi-Fi issues, the company finally confirmed that it’s something they’re looking into:
We are aware and are looking into the situation.
If Sony provides further updates on this issue, we’ll let you know.
Have you experienced this issue since updating your PS4 to version 4.50?
