In a brand new, special magazine put out today, Falcom president Toshihiro Kondo says that the company is preparing to bring The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II to the PlayStation 4.
The first issue of Sen no Kiseki Magazine, a special magazine published by Dengeki, that released today broke the story in a conversation with Kondo. Regarding the PlayStation 4 versions of the games, Kondo said that they were “actually preparing it,” and that he hopes to share more information soon.
Remakes of the original two games would likely be welcomed with open arms, as Falcom is preparing to release the third game in the series, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III, for the PlayStation 4 later this month in Japan. As it stands, the only way to play the first two games are either on the PlayStation 3 or PS Vita.
For those who are new to the series and are looking forward to Trails of Cold Steel III, make sure to check out our review of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II:
The exciting, fun turn-based combat, too, is an absolute treat to revisit, even if I’d have liked to see more meaningful changes and improvements made to its systems. If you didn’t play the original game and are interested in diving into Trails of Cold Steel II right away, I implore you to go back and play its predecessor first; not only do I find that a superior game, but I can already imagine the bewilderment of the poor soul who attempts to go into this one’s insanely detailed lore without a hint of background information. On the other hand, for those folks who did play and enjoy, know that this second entry is just more of the same great thing, and that was good enough for me to have a really fun time.
