Hi-Rez Studios has filed a few new trademarks, and from that we can glean some tidbits about what the studio is working on! Smite Data Mining has found three new trademarks registrations filed by the studio, and two of them reveal new trademarks for some of thier more popular series. Are these new games, or something else?
The first trademark is for SMITE Blitz. Hi-Rez Studios has previously said that they’re working on another SMITE mobile game in addition to the already released SMITE Rivals, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if this winds up being that. It certainly fits the bill, after all. That trademark was registered back in May of 2017.
The other big trademark is for a game called Tribes Royale. The name would indicate that it’s a new entry in the Tribes series of first-person shooters. With the Royale surname, it naturally seems like this could be a free-to-play battle royale title in the vein of Fortnite Battle Royale and Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds. Considering how successful Hi-Rez has been with free-to-play games in the past, it’d be a natural fit for the developer.
Recent job postings have shown that Hi-Rez Studios was adding a Weapons and Hardsurface Modeler in addition to a Network Administrator. Both of those would fit in with Tribes Royale potentially being a battle royale title, but that’s all speculation at the moment.
Finally, Hi-Rez filed a trademark for something called Bot Smachers, which would seemingly be a new intellectual property.
Do any of these trademarks excite you?
