Have you been waiting for the next Samurai Warriors title? Well, there is good news and bad news for you. The good news, Koei Tecmo President Hisashi Koinuma has stated that they’re working on a new Samurai Warriors title! The bad news is, though, that it’s still a long ways off, not releasing until 2019 or even later.
President Koinuma revealed this information on Twitter:
【鯉沼P】しばらくぶりです。次回作はこれからなので、今は無双シリーズ最新作『真・三國無双8』をご期待ください。
『戦国無双4』の次は、4年周期のオリンピックより間隔空きますがちゃんと考えてます。引続き『戦国無双』シリーズをよろしくお願いします。頑張るよ。by社長

Since it’s in Japanese, Siliconera has graciously translated the Tweet:
[Producer Koinuma] It’s been a while. [Work on] the next title has just begun, so please look forward to the Musou series’ latest title Dynasty Warriors 9 for now. As for what comes after Samurai Warriors 4, it’ll end up taking longer than the 4-year interval of the Olympics, but we’re putting some thought into it. Thank you for your continued support of the Samurai Warriors series.
We’ll do our best.
By President
The phrase “4-year interval of the Olympics” is a really odd phrase, but it gives us insight on when we might see the game. Samurai Warriors released in Japan in March of 2014, so four years would place us at 2018. However, Koinuma stated it will take longer than four years, which will most likely place it in 2019, though it’s possible a late 2018 release is also possible.
It’s also most likely that this title being teased is Samurai Warriors 5, as Koinuma didn’t take Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada into consideration for this tease.
What will you be hoping to see from this new Samurai Warriors title?
