Heavy Rain has been pouring onto PS3‘s since its release Tuesday. It has been met with critical acclaim, with our own Editor-in-Chief, Anthony Severino calling the game a “deeply emotional and psychological thriller.” However, many users are reporting a freezing issue that prohibits them from continuing the phenomenal storyline. Some users are even reporting that the issue corrupts their game save. These complaints have piled up on the Official PlayStation Boards, and a Sony representative has a response that may help with the worry and issues.
A Senior Community Development Manager, going by Sam_Protagonist, posted the following temporary solution to the growing problems:
One word of advice we’ve had already is to avoid switching off your PlayStation while the game is in black screen as this may be affecting your save game. There have been a few reports of incidents where game saves have taken longer than would normally be expected – and with a black screen present it may leave the assumption that the game has crashed. In these circumstances we recommend you wait at least 5 minutes before rebooting – while it’s highly unlikely a save will take this long, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
While incidents of problems with the game are very low we’re working to ensure that everyone gets the Heavy Rain experience they expect. As soon as there is any further information we’ll update further.
Whether this actually works, is yet to be determined. Hopefully Quantic Dream can pump out a patch, so every user can enjoy the Heavy Rain experience.
