A new report claims that the next Need for Speed game is only releasing on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. That’s according to journalist and insider Jeff Grubb, who revealed this tidbit of information on the latest episode of his Giantbomb show (via Video Games Chronicle). The game, which has yet to officially surface, has already been delayed once.
When will Need for Speed PS5 release?
According to Grubb’s sources, the new Need for Speed is still coming in November 2022. However, we’re well into April and EA has yet to say anything about the game so take this with a grain of salt. The publisher recently ditched its annual EA Play event in favor of showcasing games on an individual basis so Need for Speed might be among the games that’ll get its own reveal event over the summer. “Need for Speed is still coming this year… that’s true, that game should be coming in November,” Grubb said. “If you are a Need for Speed fan who has bought a next-gen console, here’s some news; it’s next-gen only. They are shifting to next-gen only.”
Opinion: Need for Speed needs a revamp more than speed
Zarmena writes… I grew up playing Need for Speed and still remember the excitement that new entries brought. Unfortunately, the last few games have been uninspired, microtransaction-infested, boring attempts at reviving the beloved franchise. That Criterion was temporarily pulled from the new game’s development to support the doomed Battlefield 2042 doesn’t make me confident about what we’re about to see in the near future. I just want EA to start taking the franchise seriously again.
