The latest Call of Duty game was officially unveiled today via a takeover of an LA dockyard in order to cover it in the game’s artwork. While Activision and Infinity Ward largely managed to stop that rather large stunt from leaking out beforehand, there are some other details that did make it through the cracks. Leaks claim Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will have three different editions.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 open beta coming to PlayStation first
Call of Duty MW2 will have three different editions according to details leaked via files in COD Vanguard that were seen by CharlieIntel. As well as the standard edition, there will be a cross-gen bundle and a Vault Edition. The cross-gen bundle is expected to do exactly what it says on the tin, providing access to both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game. The Vault edition is expected to include several extras like a Battle Pass, an Operator Pack, and double XP:

Both the Vault Edition and the cross-gen bundle will give early access to the open beta. According to the leaks, this is coming first to PS5 and PS4, putting paid to the rumors that the existing Call of Duty deal between Activision and Sony had come to an end. Of course, none of these details have been confirmed by Activision or Infinity Ward and we’re expected to learn more when the game is properly revealed on June 8.
What we do know for certain is the game will feature Task Force 141 and its seasoned Operators: Captain John Price, Simon “Ghost” Riley, John “Soap” MacTavish, and Kyle “Gaz” Garrick. A brand new Operator, Mexican Special Forces Colonel Alejandro Vargas, will be played by Uncharted 4 voice actor Warren Kole. The game will be released on PS5 and PS4 on October 28.
In other news, Sony has quietly removed the ability to transfer games from PS3 to Vita, something that happened earlier this month. Elsewhere, the PlayStation Days of Play promotion will begin tomorrow with discounts on games and accessories.
