Destiny 2 is currently offline as Bungie continues to investigate players losing progress. The game was supposed to be back online by now but servers are still down.
Why is Destiny 2 offline?
According to a notice on Twitter, a yet-to-be-diagnosed problem is causing certain Triumphs, Seals, and Catalysts to lose progress for players. In a series of subsequent updates, Bungie said that it was continuing to investigate the issue and run tests, with an ETA of 3-4 am PT for Destiny 2 to come back online. At the time of this writing, servers remain down.

Our investigation and testing continues. To set expectations, this issue will not be resolved tonight.
We are estimating a timeline of 3-4 AM PST tomorrow, January 25, for our fix to get deployed. Timeline subject to change.

Player reaction has understandably been mixed, with some demanding compensation while others are pointing out that Destiny 2 is a free-to-play game.
