Sony rewards program and PlayStation credit card ending

PSA: Sony Rewards Ending Soon, Redeem Your Points Now

As previously announced, the Sony Rewards program is coming to an end after more than a decade, and members have until December 31 to spend their points. Not to be confused with PlayStation Stars, the U.S.-only rewards program allowed members and PlayStation credit card users to earn points on various Sony Group purchases, among other things. The credit card scheme is also coming to an end.

Will Sony Rewards program be replaced with something new?

The announcement was made back in June, following which Sony Rewards stopped accepting new members. After December 31, existing members will lose their points forever and the program’s website and app will no longer be available.

As for what’s next, Sony teased “something new on the horizon” in the original announcement, but has not provided any further information since then. Our guess is that Sony will stick to PS Stars rather than launching a new program specific to the U.S. The company recently said that PS Stars, which is available in a number of countries, will continue to evolve.

If you’re a PlayStation Visa or Sony Visa cardholder, you should have been contacted by Comenity Bank by now with regards to changes in your credit card program.
