Helldivers 2 Killzone Content’s Controversial Price Not Sony’s Fault

Arrowhead Game Studios has said that Helldivers 2 Killzone content‘s exorbitant price was its own decision, not Sony‘s. As we reported yesterday, acquiring Killzone 2 content costs 1,975 Super Credits, which means players have to spend $20. This is double the price of a Warbond.

‘This one is on us,’ says Arrowhead on Helldivers 2 Killzone content pricing

When players began criticizing publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment for the high price, Arrowhead took to Discord to clarify that Sony had nothing to do with its decision. “Of course it’s a partnership,” the studio wrote. “But we are in the driving seat behind the decisions. This one is on us.”

Separately on X, creative Johan Pilestedt explained that the reason Killzone 2 content didn’t come via a Warbond was because “having a higher priced Warbond would carry negative sentiment.” “Sorry you felt the price was steep, we are looking at all feedback,” he added.

Players aren’t happy with the statements, however. Some have demanded a re-release of the content as a Warbond. “The players that bought any of the current content get to keep whatever they bought and have their credits refunded regardless of if they buy the Warbond,” one Reddit user suggested.

Arrowhead has not indicated that it’ll make any changes to the Killzone 2 crossover in response to criticism.
