The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remake Possibly Hinted at by Dev

Another week, another potential clue that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake actually exists. This time, the hint comes from a developer from the studio allegedly working on the project.

Is Virtuos working on an The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake?

It has been rumored for quite some time that Virtuos, a studio most known for its support work, is working on a remake of the beloved The Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion. Those rumors get a bit more credence thanks to the Technical Art Director at Virtuos who left a potential hint at the remake’s existence. In their experience section of their LinkedIn profile, it lists “unannounced UE5 PS5/XSX/PC remake” as a project they worked on.

On the surface, there really isn’t much to go on. However, due to speculation that has gone around for awhile now, people are convinced this is probably the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake. The biggest clue is that this lists a remake using Unreal Engine 5, which the rumored game is reportedly using.

Like all rumors and speculation, take this information with a grain of salt. The unannounced remake could really be anything. Whether it’s something older like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion or something newer like the recently released Horizon: Zero Dawn rerelease for PS5, we won’t really know until it is actually revealed.

That reveal may not be too far off. Just last month, a leak speculated that the remake could be announced during an Xbox Direct this month. It also claimed that the game could launch on PS5 sometime within 2025, but did not give a specific date or window.

If The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake does actually launch for PS5 this year, fans of the series that own the Sony video game platform may be appeased. There isn’t much known about The Elder Scrolls VI, but it is known it is not planned to launch on the PS5.
