Yesterday, Sony announced another color collection for various PS5 accessories, but curiously missing from the announcement were PS5 Pro covers. The mid-gen hardware released two months ago, and as Sony takes its sweet time releasing covers for it, AliExpress is making bank as players flock to the website en masse for the accessory.
Sony hasn’t shared a release date or window for PS5 Pro covers
We previously reported that a number of PS5 Pro owners expressed disappointment after finding out that their recently purchased Slim covers didn’t fit the Pro. The company later felt compelled to confirm that Pro covers are indeed in the works, but declined to provide any further details.
At this moment in time, no one knows when PS5 Pro plates are coming and when. But players aren’t exactly known for being patient. I continue to see thread after thread on gaming forums and social media sites, where players flaunt their flashy AliExpress accessories.
In fact, a quick look on the dedicated PS5 Pro subreddit shows at least one thread per day of players showing off their unofficial plates. In one thread, a user suggested changing the name of the subreddit from PS5 Pro to AliExpress Pro because of the amount of similar posts.
I can say with a fair degree of certainty that even when Sony does release the covers, AliExpress will continue to beat it with a better variety. Don’t get me started on those elusive disc drives…
